“Despite the fact that there are nearly five million small businesses in the UK, it’s difficult to get our voice heard. I’m very pleased to see that bigger companies such as Intuit are keen to champion small businesses’ views, especially in such a crucial political time. By joining our forces we can make sure that decision makers at all levels understand what it takes to significantly support small businesses and ultimately help the economy turnaround.”

About

Ben left school at 16 to get working as soon as he could. He spent a couple of years doing office and call centre work, while everyone he spoke to told him he should get into sales. Ben then started working for a software company in Maidenhead but was made redundant soon after.

Having rent and bills to pay, he got off the train and walked into a temp agency that walked him straight around the corner into a construction recruitment company and his first recruitment job that same day. Ben knew then that recruitment was for him and with a keen interest in IT, it seemed the best way forward. He sent out a number of applications to local IT agencies and secured himself the job as a resourcer. It was one of the Thames Valleys leading agencies in early 2001, and Ben spent 2 years there where he met his business partner ‘to-be’ Jon Brydges before both being headhunted by one of their top consultants who had set up his own business.

Ben spent six years at here as a Senior Consultant and Team Leader before deciding it was time to go it alone, (well, ‘alone’ with Jon!), and founded Xact Placements Ltd. using a business model that broke away from the normal ‘cut throat’ ideas that are sometimes associated with recruitment agencies. The rest as they say is history!

Outside of work, Ben likes socialising with his friends and colleagues, whether it be over a beer in the pub or dinner at home. He also has a keen interest in all sports and enjoys kickboxing and the gym as often as he can! Ben is a Chelsea fan, but don’t hold that against him!
