“Small businesses can offer flexibility and a personal service that larger organisations often struggle to give. As a result small business’ need to highlight this added value and ensure they charge a realistic amount to cover their costs and make a profit. The next stage is to ensure collection of these amounts.”
Having been made redundant for a second time Penny decided to take fate into her own hands and launch Wellington Consulting Ltd. Penny enjoys running her own business because of the flexibility to choose what work she does and the ability to help and develop others. For Penny, keeping a steady flow of varied work and getting paid a fair price for it is most important to her as a small business owner. When she is not running the business Penny looks after and rides her horse, spends time with the family and attends the Women’s Institute. Wellington Consulting Ltd, founded in 2003, runs an accountancy practice offering monthly and annual accounts, tax VAT and payroll and business advice and guidance. They also offer a variety of training including management, finance and QuickBooks courses and problem solving. The company consists primarily of Penny plus a couple of freelancers. The company is based in Wokingham. www.wcon.co.uk Wellington Coaching Ltd was founded in 2008. The company works with small business owners, mentoring them to manage businesses, overcome issues and take the business to where it needs to be, while supporting the owner so they can enjoy the journey. The principal coach is Penny. The business is based in Wokingham but as much of the work is done over the telephone they can be anywhere in the English speaking world. www.wcoa.co.uk
