“One of the points highlighted in the research was the announcement at the end of 2009 of the phasing out of cheques as a means of payment by 2018, but it is still surprising to many business owners that in the age of internet banking it still takes three days for bank payment transactions to be credited to a receiving bank account with credit and debit card payments taking up to 10 days to be received, which in the age of real-time online banking seems amazingly long.”
