Cheque replacement

95% of the paymentsi recieve are made via cheques it will be interesting to see what other options are out there as some customers I do not think I could truct to pay later on, and begin a handyman that is mobile and visit homes over a wide area i am unable to have a landline terminal for debitcard payments. I think this may be the end of some banks as people will pay cash and there will be no need for a bank. I am also the booking clerk of my local village hall and again every payment is made by cheque.

You coul suse Paypal or Google checkout as most homes have Broadband and you can logon to your account on the internet and accept their credit card while you are visting theire home. The other way to charge to ask them to fill in a form with their Debit/Credit Card Details and when you come bvack to your office/home you can then logon to your account take payment.

Same methid can be used for your Village hall bookings.

I hope this helps.

Modern IT allows for safe & security mobile transactions.

Get a IT company to explain what you can do.

Payment is a state of mind of customers & their percieved way of paying you. If you change your position on this then your customers will change too.

We were 90% cheque, we are now <5%. Little or no cash.

We are an IT company that carry out repairs at customers homes and we like to get paid on completion.

On hall bookings then is pretty much the same or a proper online booking system.

Taking and recording payment card details would be difficult to secure under PCI-DSS rules. I would advise getting yourself a mobile chip and PIN terminal. You need to talk to your Payment/Merchant Service Provider. there are a quite a few terminal providers too.

http://www.123send.net/ is an example. Shop around for the best deal.

Don't use your client's PCs to take payments. Use your mobile! This will be more secure and looks much more professional. With the addition of a small printer (in the van or briefcase, say) you can even print a receipt!

I was talking to someone in a bank the other day about this subject and they understood that cheques would be replaced by some form of voucher system, which effectively sounds like another name for a cheque to me!
