Party Plan blues

Hi can anyone help, I have a home based business retailing greeting cards and gift wrap, I thought the best way to retail is through party plan, but whenever I invite people to a party they always let me down. What do I need to do to have a successful and profitable party?

This is part of the general lack of respect that people have today, yesterday I went to a restaurant were 3 tables just didn't turn up, over £500 lost on mothers day.

There needs to be a reason to turn up or a penalty not to, these don't have to be financial. If the party us being held by someone else, if they have to put some investment, e.g. food then often they will make the effort to make sure people turn up.

Thanks for your reply. I think maybe next time I will try the charity option. Maybe if people know they are helping to raise cash for a child's charity they will be likely to turn up, well hopefully anyway.
